Google Android Tablet – Good Value Or Save Your Money?

Mid 80006 Google Android Tablet – It’s sure hard to choose between all the lower cost tablets hitting the market currently. Manufacturers are struggling to satisfy our demand for touchscreen technology, as peer pressure seems to dictate that we ALL must own one of these devices.

I personally haven’t had a the opportunity to put the Mid 80006 Google Android Tablet through its paces, but have been trying to get some user feedback.

Early reports are that in trying to keep costs as low as possible the Google’s Mid 80006 android tablet is underpowered, with slow screen response times, and showing better performance when using the stylus (massively un-cool).

Manufactured in China these tablets these tablets including the Mid 80006 Google Android Tablet are made to offer a low cost entry point, and in fairness are very low priced. However my favorite quote in response to a question regarding buying a for their teenage son was an answer given in Yahoo Answers “They are very poor quality, grossly underpowered, and their functionality is often flawed. In all seriousness, like clothes and cars, teenagers unfortunately have peer judgements based on the gadgets they own. iPads and Xooms are “cool”. The M80006 is like having your parents make you wear plaid slacks to school.”MID 80006 Google Android 2.2 8 Tablet 300x279 Mid 80006 Google Android Tablet Review

It’s hard to find a good entry level tablet as they are all hampered by the process power required to satisfy our need for speed and performance, however a good alternative for not a lot more money maybe the AOC MW0811 Breeze 8-Inch Tablet PC sold through Amazon at around $176 the AOC MW0811 Breeze is clearly more expensive than the Mid 80006 Google Android, but it score solid high grades in user reviews.

I ‘won’ an MID android by attending one of those Direct Marketing seminars. (Where they try to convince suckers to buy into their ‘super low pricing’ ploys for ‘only’ 7 grand for 2 yrs ‘privileges’ to see their ‘secret mfr books’ + $300 every yr thereafter). If the sales pitch wasn’t enough of a sucker bet the MID was.

The 7″ 4.0 Google Android was supposed to be worth ‘up to $199′. (insert laugh). It came with zero instructions & zero registration cards for the [non-existent] warranty. The ‘sensitive’ capacitive screen took multiple hard presses (I’ve used manual typewriters that took less effort) to get an app to open. Slow? I kept a book handy & read a page or two while it loaded. Internet surfing? Try drowning…when it bothered to connect.

Here’s a fun extra: no garbage can or way to get rid of things that double loaded or were duds. Battery life was around 90 min. [Whoopee] If you tried running it with the power cord attached it went haywire. Start-up took over 5 minutes – when it felt like starting. Often it would begin to load & just as it was reaching the ‘unlock’ stage the MID suddenly shut off. I once went through 6 restarts before it was ready to do anything. There was no meter to tell you how much power was left (or if it did, I couldn’t find it). Then it lost something or other in the program having to do with the Calendar & kept demanding I close down the app every time I powered up. (Sometimes shutting off the bad app shut down the unit, too)

The MID lasted all of 3 highly frustrating weeks. Then the power pin started to hiss & buzz; within another 2 wks it’d broken off the motherboard completely. I now have a lovely paperweight.

Thinking of buying one? Why not just take your money and donate it to charity rather than the Chinese? You’ll feel better and suffer far less frustration.
