What tablet (slate) pc is right for me?
Question by Sight: What tablet (slate) pc is right for me?
Hello, i am on a limited budget and looking for a slate pc. It needs to be small and light and will mainly be used for writing my college notes in class on it. So… it has to have a good battery life, and good write function on it. Other then that price is the only thing that matters to me. Other uses such as media and web are not a must in any way. Its reliability is also a factor, it will surely get abused.

The price gap between the tablets and a comparably equipped notebook is still pretty wide. For that reason, I would first suggest alternatives.
If you already have a lappy, you might be quite satisfied with a graphics tablet. I use both Wacom and addesso tablets… each come with their own handwriting recognition/translation software. However, if your using Vista as your operating system it has it’s own tablet functions integrated. I personally find the remote tablets easier to use than actually writing or drawing directly onto the lcd. The tablets usually have a much higher resolution to the tablet pcs as well.
There are also stand alone alternatives such as the IOGEAR digital scribe and the like.

You taReceivernotes as your normally would using the special pen and reciever. Then later when you get to your desktop you can just transfer the contents catastrophe file. This also has the added benefit that if some cotastrophe should occur and your data is corrupted or lost you still have a redundant copy to fall back on.
If you should have you heart set on a tablet pc… my suggestions would be to pay attention to the resolution of the screen… the higher the better.
